Watch in complete astonishment as a Humpback whale pierces the surface, all 40,000 pounds of her body breached horizontally above the sea for what can seem like several seconds. Carefully glide next to the base of an ancient glacier in one of our three kayaks. Relax and take it all back beside a scenic crashing waterfall in the 104 degree waters of Baranof warm springs. Remember not to soak too long, as back on the boat the crew is preparing the largest Dungeness crab you have ever seen, let alone caught. Join us on an Alaska yacht charter during the months of June, July and August as Singawing cruises between the port city of Juneau and Sitka, the bustling seaside town on Baranof Island. During these seven to ten day adventures we will encounter all of the above, but definitely accommodate the interest of the guest aboard. Like all of our charters, you decide the itinerary based on our suggestions. If hot springs are your thing we can visit three in as many days. If you long to see glaciers you have come to the right place, we will sail near the mainland where we will find Endicott Arm, Ford’s Terror, Tracy arm and Taku Inlet. Frederick Sound, Icy Strait and the Pacific Ocean will not disappoint when the sighting of whales is on the agenda. And bear and eagles, they’re everywhere up here!
For the avid angler, Great Bear Charters has teamed up with the best of the Alaskan fishing guides, who provide a rendezvous service. They’ll meet you at our anchorage in the morning and return you, trophy fish in hand to the mother ship. Tonight we will prepare a traditional native style salmon candlelight dinner. Alaska’s rivers are chuck full of wildlife, spawning chum provide dinner for the wolves, eagles, seals and bears who roam throughout these estuaries. We are glad to organize jet boat tours on the Stikine River for those who want to get in a little fresh water time.
