Working as a way of Life

Sailing is a constant challenge to improve, and we do.

Yesterday was Memorial Day, a specific kind of holiday, where the respect is in the mourning, but also the celebration, of freedoms won and sacrifices made.  It's a hard one, a necessary one, and one that should bring us together in our alike-ness. Captain Mortenson sent me this picture to use with our Memorial Day post, and I couldn't think of a better photo to represent some strength and sanity in this weird time we're living in. The rough beauty of the rocky shoreline, the eagle with his eye on something, focused and poised, and the Singawing, holding fast at anchor, warm and inviting and capable.  So much beauty in a single frame. Each on it's own voyage, but there together, in that moment in time, strong and purposeful. I guess that's what Memorial day is needing from us this year, the acknowledgement that although we're each going the journey alone, things are a lot more beautiful when we hold space and respect the purpose of everything around us.
