Summer, is that you? This year, a year like no other, has brought us as mariners an unusual break. Normally we're juggling charters, travel days, attempts to go home for a day or two, cleaning, provisioning, repairing, networking...and suddenly, this summer, quiet. No charters, no arriving guests, no linens to fold or meals to plan. This is where Captain Mortenson and his family get their boat back for a bit. I always assume that if you are reading this you're quite aware of how incredible the owners of the Singawing are, hardworking and inspirational, they make things happen and help dreams come true.
I personally have been feeling further from the water than I have in a decade, living in Seattle really cuts into my daily beach time. :) However, one of the best parts of this summer has been Captain Mortenson and his wife sending me pictures to post from the lovely time they're having aboard their vessel, finally, some summer boat time for the family! This week they sent me the picture used in the caption, which I'm pretty sure is a lot of peoples version of heaven, myself included. A nice warm fire to take off the chill coming in from the water, the setting sun, the Singawing herself anchored out just waiting to be a cozy home when they're done for the evening. Such a reward for such wonderful people. I love being able to see my favorite version of summer, and I can't wait to be out there again myself.
